Farewell to Fr. Daryl

Sadly and with warm thanks for 9 years extremely hard work we have to say goodbye to Father Daryl. He has managed to balance working as Parish Priest of the Holy Family in Reigate and in the local Deanery with acting as a Presiding Judge of the A&B Matrimonial Tribunal, which grants Marriage Annulments.
He has worked unstintingly trying to improve his Parish and its Community. For example he worked hard on developing the Children’s and Youth’s Sacramental Programme, knowing the Church’s future is in their hands. He is still scheduled to take a young group from our Diocese to the 2008 Youth Day in Sydney Australia with Pope Benedict. We will miss his kindness, administrative ability and attention to detail.
The Bishop has now decreed that the Parishes of Reigate, Redhill and Merstham will become united as one Parish by July 2008, whilst retaining the three churches, a challenging task for both the priests and their congregations. But in the words of a well known hymn “Let us be servants to one another making your Kingdom come.”
It will be an end of an era - The Holy Family Church was built in 1938 and since then 9 parish priests have dedicated their lives to working for God in the Parish. Let us now welcome Fr Laurence who will be our “moderator” and Fr Charles who will be our Parochial Administrator for the interim period.
We wish Father Daryl all the best in his task of uniting the parishes of St Charles Borromeo East Worthing and the Holy Family Lancing.
